Engineering graduate Nikshep Bangera, who was undergoing treatment for mental health issues, died after falling from a high-rise apartment in Bagalagunte; police suspect suicide.

A 26-year-old engineering graduate working as a tech professional died after falling from the 16th floor of a private apartment complex in Bagalagunte, north Bengaluru, on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Nikshep Bangera, a native of Mangaluru.

The incident occurred around 8.15 am at Prince Town Apartment in Shettihalli area. According to police, Nikshep’s family owns a flat on the 20th floor of the apartment complex, where he lived with his parents, Kishore and Jayashree.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Nikshep died by suicide, possibly linked to prolonged health issues. He was reportedly suffering from schizophrenia and was also battling severe mental depression. Police sources said he had been undergoing treatment for his condition.

On the day of the incident, Nikshep returned to the apartment but did not go up to his family’s flat. Instead, he is believed to have gone to the 16th floor, from where he fell to his death. Apartment residents alerted authorities after noticing the incident.

Nikshep had completed his electronic engineering degree in Europe and had recently returned to India. He was working from home as a tech professional. Police also stated that he had stayed at Gowdi Mutt in Hesaraghatta for the past two days before returning to the apartment on Wednesday morning.

Sources further revealed that there was a recent incident where Nikshep had allegedly attempted to attack his father, indicating the severity of his mental health struggles.

Bagalagunte police visited the spot, conducted a preliminary investigation, and shifted the body to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem examination. After the procedure, the body was sent to Mangaluru for final rites.

A case has been registered at the Bagalagunte Police Station, and further investigation is underway to ascertain all circumstances leading to the incident.
