NSUI alleges WhatsApp circulation of BCom 5th semester question paper a day before exam; varsity accused of inaction despite prior knowledge

Bengaluru City University is facing serious allegations after the question paper of the BCom fifth semester Advanced Accounting examination was allegedly leaked even before the exam was conducted.

According to allegations made by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the question paper of the examination held today had already been circulated on WhatsApp by yesterday evening. The student body claims that the leak gave an unfair advantage to several students, many of whom allegedly appeared for the exam after accessing the leaked paper.

NSUI leaders have further alleged that the leak did not happen accidentally and have raised suspicion about the possible involvement of the managements of certain colleges in the circulation of the question paper. They claim the leak points to a deeper nexus that needs immediate investigation.

Adding to the controversy, NSUI has accused the university’s examination department of failing to take action even after the question paper was allegedly leaked in advance. According to the student organisation, despite the paper being available widely on WhatsApp, the exam was conducted as scheduled, raising serious questions about the integrity of the examination process.

“We received the same question paper through WhatsApp yesterday evening,” NSUI representatives alleged, stating that the leak was known well before the exam began. They further claimed that the situation resulted in widespread misuse, compromising fairness for students who prepared honestly.

The controversy has erupted at a sensitive time, as the state government has recently renamed Bengaluru City University as Manmohan Singh University.

So far, there has been no official response or clarification from the university authorities regarding the allegations, nor any announcement of an inquiry or corrective measures.
