Foreign national travelling from Kempegowda International Airport to Korea alleges sexual assault by airport staff during checking; accused taken into custody after complaint to security forces.
A serious case of sexual harassment has been reported at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru, where a foreign woman alleged that she was sexually assaulted by an airport staff member under the pretext of a security check.
According to the complaint, the woman had arrived at KIA to board a flight to Korea. During routine procedures, an airport staffer identified as Apan Ahmed approached her claiming there was an issue during checking. He allegedly told her that her bag had triggered a beep sound and insisted that she needed to be checked separately.
The accused reportedly checked her ticket and then informed her that going to the regular checking counter would delay her boarding, as the flight time was approaching. Using this excuse, he allegedly took the woman to the men’s restroom, claiming it was necessary for a quick and private check.

Inside the restroom, the woman alleged that the accused touched her private parts under the guise of security checking and hugged her from behind. The harassment reportedly continued for a short period, during which the accused repeatedly touched her body. When the woman resisted and objected strongly, the accused abruptly stopped, said “okay, thank you,” and left the restroom.
Shocked by the incident, the woman immediately approached the airport security forces and lodged a formal complaint against the staff member, accusing him of sexual misconduct and inappropriate behaviour.
Acting swiftly on her complaint, airport security personnel traced and detained the accused staffer and handed him over to the police. Based on the woman’s statement, the airport police registered a case against the accused and arrested him.
