New contract under Phase II aims to boost passenger capacity and support expansion of the city's growing metro network.
State-owned BEML Ltd has received a fresh contract worth ₹414 crore from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) for the supply of additional trainsets under Phase II of the Bengaluru Metro project. The new order strengthens the city’s ongoing metro expansion as authorities work to meet rising commuter demand and improve urban connectivity.

The company confirmed the development through a regulatory filing, stating that the order covers additional trainsets required for the next stage of network growth. While the announcement did not specify delivery schedules or detailed technical specifications, the contract adds to the list of major metro-related orders placed with the public sector manufacturer.
This comes shortly after BEML secured another ₹405 crore order from BMRCL for seven additional metro trains, also for Phase II. The combined orders highlight the scale of upcoming expansion across different lines and the increasing need for rolling stock as new corridors near completion.

The company runs production facilities in Bengaluru, Kolar Gold Fields, Mysuru and Palakkad, supported by in-house R&D and a nationwide service network.
The fresh order is expected to support Bengaluru’s growing metro ridership as Phase II progresses, adding crucial capacity to accommodate higher passenger volumes and enabling smoother operations across the expanding network.
