Sharp reprimand delivered during inspection as Minister Krishna Byre Gowda questions prolonged delays and road occupation near Manyata Tech Park.

A surprise inspection of the Bengaluru Metro Blue Line on the Nagavara-Yelahanka stretch turned tense as Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda expressed strong dissatisfaction with the progress of ongoing works. The minister, who reviewed the construction site near Manyata Tech Park, openly criticised the delay and the extent of road space occupied for the project.

During the review, the minister questioned why a single pier required years to complete and raised concerns about the prolonged inconvenience caused to commuters. The delay around Manyata Tech Park, already a high-traffic zone, drew the sharpest reaction. The minister stressed that the obstruction caused by barricades and slow-moving works was unacceptable, especially when large stretches of the road had been taken over without visible progress.

The inspection covered the Nagavara to Yelahanka Junction corridor. Senior officials, including BMRCL Managing Director Ravishankar and Bengaluru North Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar, were present at the site as the minister evaluated the work status and demanded accountability.

The minister’s comments reflected growing public frustration over the slow pace of the Blue Line works, which have repeatedly missed deadlines. With this inspection, the government signalled the need for faster, more coordinated efforts to reduce inconvenience and complete key stretches on time.

The review emphasised the expectation that BMRCL must accelerate construction, optimise space usage, and address road congestion to prevent further hardship to daily commuters.
