Civic chief Rajendra Cholan pushes for cleaner pedestrian zones in Bengaluru’s busiest transport hub, with strict action planned against violators.
Majestic, Bengaluru’s busiest transport hub, is set for a major cleanliness upgrade. On Saturday, Central city corporation commissioner Rajendra Cholan directed officials to immediately install mobile toilets along high-density pedestrian pathways to curb rampant public urination.

During an inspection at the Auto Tipper Mustering Centre near the Slum Development Board, Cholan emphasised that sanitation issues could no longer be ignored in a locality that sees lakhs of daily footfalls. He also made it mandatory for pourakarmikas and waste collection drivers to report to duty in proper uniforms, gloves, and safety gear between 5:30 am and 6:30 am.
To ensure accountability, Cholan instructed the setting up of a robust reporting system to track building debris clearance and monitor black spots. Warning officials of strict follow-ups, he underlined that Majestic must reflect Bengaluru’s civic pride.
