GBA is transforming KR Market’s basement into a state-of-the-art parking hub, featuring AI surveillance, automated systems, and commuter-friendly services.
Bengaluru’s century-old KR Market is all set to embrace the future of urban mobility. Following the success of Freedom Park’s smart parking system, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has awarded a 10-year concession to develop a cutting-edge parking hub inside the historic market’s basement.

The operator will invest Rs 7–8 crore to revamp the dilapidated basement, creating space for 200 cars and 400 two-wheelers, along with designated bays for women and persons with disabilities. The redevelopment, expected to take six months, promises a blend of modern technology and market convenience.

Packed with commuter-friendly features, the hub will host a free air-filling station, puncture repair shop, and mechanics on standby. Security will be enhanced with 85 AI-enabled CCTV cameras capable of facial recognition and number plate tracking, ensuring both safety and smooth traffic flow.
The system will be fully automated with ticketless entry, digital payments, and real-time monitoring, making it hassle-free for users. Parking fees will remain affordable to encourage regular use.
