In a remarkable late-night operation, Namma Metro once again proved to be Bengaluru’s lifeline, helping doctors transport a live heart in just 20 minutes, saving a patient’s life.
Bengaluru’s Namma Metro yet again turned into a true lifeline, this time carrying a live beating heart across the city. On the night of September 11, between 11:01 PM and 11:21 PM, the heart was transported from Yeshwanthpur Metro Station to Mantri Square, escorted by BMRCL’s security officer and the medical team from Sparsh Hospital.

This extraordinary green corridor ensured the organ reached on time for a critical transplant surgery, showcasing the efficiency of Bengaluru Metro in emergency medical logistics.
This isn’t the first such humanitarian mission by Namma Metro. Just a month earlier, on August 1, 2025, a liver was transported from Vaidehi Hospital to Rajarajeshwari Nagar via the Metro, accompanied by a team of doctors and paramedics. The organ, brought by ambulance to Whitefield Metro station at 8:38 PM, was placed on a special Metro train at 8:42 PM, reaching Rajarajeshwari Nagar by 9:48 PM, well within the golden hour, enabling a successful transplant.

Such operations underline the growing role of Bengaluru Metro not just as a transport network but as a vital enabler of life-saving missions in India’s tech capital.
