Goraguntepalya (33m) & Mysuru Road (32m) in Namma Metro Phase 3 will surpass Jayadeva Hospital, with completion targeted by 2031
Bengaluru’s Namma Metro is set to scale new heights under Phase 3, with two upcoming stations surpassing the Jayadeva Hospital station, currently India’s tallest. According to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), the Goraguntepalya and Mysuru Road stations will rise to rail levels of 33 metres and 32 metres, respectively. In comparison, Jayadeva Hospital—an interchange between the Yellow and Pink lines—stands at 29 metres at rail level and 38 metres at roof level.
Phase 3 of the metro expansion will introduce two corridors: the 32.3‑Orange interchange from Peenya to Goraguntepalya was a strategic move. The original alignment at Peenya would have required structures as tall as 46.5 metres due to steep gradients, driving up costs and engineering complexity. By shifting the station, the alignment was shortened by 200 metres, saving ₹669 crore and reducing portal beams from 61 to 14.

Other Phase 3 highlights include Sumanahalli Cross, a common station for the Orange and Silver lines, with platforms stacked at 26 metres. JP Nagar will serve as another interchange, connecting the Green and Orange lines at 22 metres via a foot overbridge. At JP Nagar 4th Phase, the Pink and Orange lines will share a concourse beneath a flyover.
Civil tenders for Phase 3 are expected to be floated soon, with completion targeted for 2031. The project promises to enhance connectivity while setting new benchmarks in metro engineering.
