Bengaluru under CCTV watch: Cops set up war room for New Year night

To ensure safe New Year celebrations, Bengaluru Police have set up a war room on Brigade Road with teams monitoring HD CCTV cameras across Brigade Road, MG Road and Church Street, promising immediate action against harassment or misbehaviour.

High-definition cameras, real-time monitoring teams and swift ground response to ensure zero tolerance for harassment and unruly behaviour during New Year celebrations.

As Bengaluru prepares to usher in the New Year, the city police have activated a special war room on Brigade Road to closely monitor celebrations and ensure public safety, particularly for women.

With thousands expected to gather in popular party zones, police teams will keep a constant watch through area CCTV cameras, tracking crowd movement and behaviour in real time. Authorities said the surveillance will cover Brigade Road, MG Road and Church Street, where a dense network of cameras has been installed.

The CCTV feed will be monitored in high-definition quality, allowing officers to clearly identify incidents of concern. Police teams stationed inside the war room will watch the visuals continuously and coordinate with field personnel for immediate response if any issue is detected.

Officials said any act of harassment, assault, nuisance or indecent behaviour, especially towards women, will be dealt with firmly. If any young woman or woman faces trouble, police will intervene instantly and provide protection on the spot.

Those found creating disturbances or engaging in offensive conduct will be removed from the area and taken to the police station for further action. The police made it clear that such individuals will not be allowed to continue participating in celebrations.

With personnel ready on standby, officers will reach locations without delay if distress is reported or spotted on camera. The initiative aims to act as both a preventive and rapid-response system, ensuring New Year celebrations remain safe, orderly and enjoyable for everyone.
