New Year road closures in Bengaluru: Check which roads are shut and when

Bengaluru Police have announced major traffic restrictions from 8 pm on December 31 to 2 am on January 1 in central areas. Several roads will be closed, parking banned, and BMTC and taxi routes diverted for New Year safety.

From MG Road to Brigade Road, major stretches will be closed to vehicles on December 31 night, with strict parking restrictions and revised BMTC and taxi routes to manage New Year crowds.

As part of New Year night arrangements, Bengaluru Police have imposed extensive traffic restrictions and parking prohibitions across key central business districts to ensure smooth crowd movement and public safety on December 31.

Road Closures (8 pm to 2 am)

Vehicular movement will be completely restricted during the night on the following stretches:

•    MG Road: From Anil Kumble Circle to Residency Road junction near Mayo Hall
•    Brigade Road: From Kaveri Emporium Junction to Opera Junction
•    Church Street: From Brigade Road Junction to Museum Road Junction
•    Residency Road: From Ashirvadam Junction to Mayo Hall Junction
•    Museum Road: From MG Road Junction to Old Madras Bank Road (SBI) Circle
•    Rest House Road: Between Museum Road Junction and Brigade Road Junction
•    Residency Cross Road: From Residency Road Junction to MG Road Junction up to Shankarnag Theatre

Parking ban (4 pm to 3 am)

Parking will be strictly prohibited during the evening and night hours on these roads:

•    MG Road: Anil Kumble Circle to Trinity Circle
•    Brigade Road: Kaveri Emporium Junction to Old Police Station Junction
•    Church Street: Brigade Road Junction to St. Mark’s Road Junction
•    Rest House Road: Brigade Road Junction to Museum Road Junction
•    Museum Road: MG Road Junction to Old Madras Bank Road (SBI) Circle
•    Residency Road: Ashirvadam Junction to Mayo Hall Junction
Police have warned that violators will face strict action, including penalties and towing.

BMTC and taxi diversions

BMTC buses and taxis will operate on designated alternative routes during restricted hours:

•    From Ashirvadam to Bannerghatta
•    From Anil Kumble Circle to Banashankari
•    From Anil Kumble Circle to NICE Road Junction
•    From Anil Kumble Circle to Sunkadakatte via Modi Hospital Road
•    From Decathlon Opera Junction to NICE Road Junction via Richmond Circle
•    From Haskett Hospital to Marathahalli
•    From Mayo Hall to Chikkajala
•    From Mayo Hall to Madavara
•    From Trinity to Bagalur
•    From Trinity to Hoskote
