  • Husband killed in planned attack over secret affair
  • Body wrapped, moved at night and burnt in a deserted area
  • Wife, lover and a 19-year-old helper arrested

A 29-year-old construction worker was allegedly killed by his wife and her lover in a pre-planned attack, with the body later burnt in a deserted area near Madanayakanahalli.

A brutal murder driven by an alleged secret affair has come to light in the Madanayakanahalli police limits after officers recovered a half-burnt body from a deserted patch near Gangondanahalli. The discovery set off an investigation that soon revealed a planned killing involving a woman, her lover and a young accomplice.

According to police findings, the victim, Basavaraj (29), originally from Yadgir, had been living with his wife Sharanamma (25) in a rented house at Thigalara Palya, Bengaluru. The couple worked as daily-wage labourers at a construction site. Over time, Sharanamma is believed to have developed a close bond with Veerabhadra, the son of the site supervisor who frequently interacted with workers. The association reportedly grew into an intimate relationship, eventually leading to a plan to eliminate the husband who stood in the way.

Investigators state that the duo had been discussing the murder for nearly a month. On a recent Friday night, after Basavaraj fell asleep in an intoxicated state, Sharanamma allegedly called Veerabhadra home. The pair first attacked the victim with a stone, and when he was still alive, they reportedly tightened a noose around his neck to ensure he died.

Police say the accused then sought help from Anil (19) to dispose of the body. Close to midnight, when the neighbourhood was asleep, the trio wrapped the body in old clothes, packed it inside a large bag and carried it out of the house. They transported it to a secluded area, where they had already arranged petrol. The body was then set on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.

The charred remains were later discovered by police, who began piecing together clues that eventually led them to the three accused. Following sustained interrogation, all of them have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
