  • Frequency improving from 15 minutes to 12 minutes
  • New timings expected to begin from December 22

With the induction of a sixth train, BMRCL is set to increase Yellow Line Metro frequency, reducing waiting time for thousands of daily commuters.

Commuters on Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro are set to receive a festive season benefit, with BMRCL preparing to enhance train frequency on the stretch. The corporation has confirmed that a sixth train set, which arrived in the last week of November, will soon be pressed into service.

Until now, the Yellow Line has been operating with only five trains, resulting in a frequency of one train every 15 minutes. The addition of the sixth unit will enable BMRCL to shorten the gap between two trains to 12 minutes, a welcome change for passengers who depend on the corridor for daily travel.

Officials say the upgraded timings are likely to take effect from December 22, following final checks and operational approvals. The change is expected to significantly reduce passenger waiting time and improve overall service efficiency on the line.

The Yellow Line, which connects key residential and commercial zones, has seen steady growth in ridership. Passengers have long requested shorter intervals, especially during peak hours. With the new train now joining the fleet, BMRCL is in a position to streamline operations and handle higher footfall more effectively.

As Bengaluru gears up for the Christmas season, this enhancement comes as timely good news for thousands of metro users, offering smoother, faster and more reliable travel across the Yellow Line.
