After shocking visuals from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Jail showed inmates partying and enjoying lavish food, BJP has announced a massive protest march to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence.

Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, usually known for housing some of Karnataka’s most notorious criminals, is now at the centre of a major political storm. A viral video showing inmates enjoying lavish food, music, and party-like celebrations inside the prison has triggered public outrage and forced political leaders to react strongly.

The visuals, allegedly shot using banned mobile phones, expose how the prison’s atmosphere resembled a five-star resort rather than a correctional facility. Inmates were seen eating non-vegetarian meals, dancing to drum beats made from utensils, and freely moving around inside the barracks, clearly violating jail protocols.

The footage quickly went viral, prompting the Parappana Agrahara Police to register a complaint and arrest three inmates for using mobile phones to record and circulate the videos. Jail officials carried out a large-scale raid involving over 100 officers, but no contraband was recovered, reportedly because information about the inspection was leaked by insiders.

As public anger mounts, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a massive protest march (rally) and siege (“muttige”) of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence in Bengaluru. BJP leaders B.Y. Vijayendra and R. Ashoka will lead the agitation, accusing the Congress-led state government of allowing criminals to live in luxury behind bars.

According to BJP leaders, the visuals from the prison are a “shameful reflection” of the government’s failure to maintain law and order. They have alleged that the state is collecting money from prisoners to provide them with royal treatment, turning jails into “VIP guest houses.”

The protest march will begin from Kumarakrupa Guest House at 9:30 AM, followed by a rally to the Chief Minister’s residence at 10 AM. BJP has demanded a judicial probe and strict action against prison officials who failed to enforce discipline inside Parappana Agrahara Jail.

Meanwhile, DIG (Prisons) has ordered an internal inquiry, and sources say senior officials are reviewing surveillance and staff accountability.
