BMRCL is preparing to build a 12.5-km Orange Line metro corridor from Hosahalli to Kadabagere, featuring a double-decker design with nine stations, tenders planned within six months, and construction targeted to begin in June 2026.
Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced a major boost for Namma Metro commuters with plans for a new Orange Line corridor, designed as a double-decker metro project. The proposed line will run from Hosahalli to Kadabagere Cross, covering a distance of 12.5 kilometres and connecting nine stations along the western stretch of the city.
According to BMRCL officials, preparations are underway to call tenders within the next six months. The project is being positioned as a unique infrastructure initiative, with a flyover at road level and the metro viaduct constructed above it. Once completed, this corridor will become the tallest metro line in Bengaluru.

The Orange Line will include the following nine stations: Hosahalli, KHB Colony, Kamakshipalya, Sumanahalli Cross, Sunkadakatte, Herohalli, Byadarahalli, Kamath Layout, and Kadabagere. These stations are expected to significantly improve connectivity for densely populated residential and commercial areas in west Bengaluru.
BMRCL has already prepared tender documents and is expected to float bids shortly. Construction is planned to begin in June 2026. Due to the complex double-decker design, the project timeline has been estimated at 5.5 years for completion.
Officials explained that double-decker metro corridors require more time and higher investment compared to conventional metro lines. While standard metro construction progresses at an average speed of 7 to 8 kilometres per year, the pace for double-decker projects typically slows to around 3 to 5 kilometres annually.

The estimated cost for building this elevated and high-rise metro corridor stands at ₹15,611 crore. Despite the higher cost and longer construction period, BMRCL believes the project will optimise urban space, ease traffic congestion, and set a new benchmark in Bengaluru’s public transport infrastructure.
Once operational, the Orange Line is expected to play a key role in improving daily commute efficiency and offering long-term mobility solutions for the city’s growing population.
