BWSSB has revised bulk water tariffs, bringing relief to apartments with fewer than 2,000 homes and PG owners, including a sharp cut in sanitation fees.
In a welcome move, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has revised bulk water tariffs, providing major relief to apartment complexes and paying guest (PG) accommodations across Bengaluru.

The revision comes after BWSSB faced appeals from apartment associations and PG owners following the tariff hike earlier this year in April. Now, the revised slab rates will benefit apartment complexes with fewer than 2,000 houses.
For residential complexes with fewer than 200 flats, the new slab rates are as follows:
• 0–200 KL: ₹25 per KL
• 200–500 KL: ₹28 per KL
• 500–1000 KL: ₹32 per KL
• Above 1000 KL: ₹55 per KL

In a significant relief to PG owners, the sanitation fee has been reduced by 60%:
• PGs with up to 20 rooms will now pay ₹2,000 per month, down from ₹5,000.
• PGs with more than 20 rooms will pay ₹3,000 per month, down from ₹7,500.
• Hostels with non-domestic water connections will see their sanitation fee reduced from ₹5,000 to ₹3,000.

The decision comes after strong representations by PG owners’ associations and apartment federations, who highlighted the financial burden caused by the April tariff hike. BWSSB’s move has been welcomed as a balanced measure that eases costs while ensuring sustainable water management.
