  • Politician and IT officials mentioned in note
  • SIT intensifies probe, forensic and family questioning underway

A lengthy note allegedly written by Confident Group Chairman C.J. Roy has triggered fresh twists, with SIT intensifying the probe and preparing to question key individuals.

The case related to Confident Group Chairman C.J. Roy has taken a dramatic and sensitive turn with the emergence of a nine-page letter believed to have been written by Roy before taking the extreme step. The contents of the letter have sparked intense discussion, prompting the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to uncover the truth behind the incident.

According to sources, the detailed letter has been handed over to the police and contains references to several influential individuals. Most notably, Roy is said to have named a politician, mentioning past business dealings with them. Based on these revelations, SIT officials are likely to issue a notice to the politician and summon them for questioning in the coming days.

The letter reportedly does not stop there. Roy has also mentioned alleged harassment by Income Tax (IT) department officials. He is said to have written about the mental stress he faced due to repeated pressure and alleged “torture” by IT officers in recent times. These claims are being treated seriously, with the SIT examining whether the alleged harassment played a role in pushing Roy into distress.

The SIT has accelerated the investigation on multiple fronts. Inputs have already been collected from Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts to confirm whether the handwriting on the death note matches Roy’s. Investigators are also closely analysing evidence recovered from the hotel room where Roy stayed, along with materials found in his bank lockers.

In the next phase, SIT officials are expected to record statements from Roy’s family members. Particular focus will be on questioning his son, Rohit, to understand whether there were financial losses in Roy’s Dubai-based business, or if Roy had received any threat calls linked to his business dealings. Investigators will also seek to know if Roy had shared any concerns or pressures with his son in the days leading up to the incident.
