CM Siddaramaiah orders strict New Year’s Eve security in Bengaluru: 20,000 police, flyover bans, extra buses, women’s squads, 78 watchtowers, 164 help desks

Bengaluru is set to witness unprecedented security arrangements this New Year’s Eve, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directing police and civic authorities to ensure a “trouble‑free” celebration across the city. Chairing a high‑level meeting at his home office on Monday, the CM emphasized special focus on the safety of women and children during the festivities.

Massive Deployment Across the City
To maintain law and order, 20,000 police personnel will be stationed throughout Bengaluru on December 31. This includes 1,200 officers brought in from other districts to reinforce the city’s force. Women police officers will play a prominent role, with the ‘Chennamma Pade’ squads tasked with patrolling crowded areas and party hubs.

Traffic and Flyover Restrictions
In a bid to prevent accidents and reckless bike stunts, all 50 flyovers in Bengaluru will be closed to two‑wheelers on New Year’s Eve. The CM also reiterated a “zero tolerance” stance against drug‑related offences and unruly behavior during the celebrations.

Public Transport and Crowd Management
To facilitate safe travel after midnight, BMTC will operate additional bus services. Key entertainment zones such as MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Koramangala, and Indiranagar will be closely monitored using modern technology to track crowd density and avert stampede‑like situations.

•     4 central control rooms and 78 watchtowers.
•     164 dedicated women’s help desks.
•     55 ambulances positioned at strategic points.

Meeting Attendees
