Civic authorities launched a major operation in North Bengaluru, identifying 82 illegal LED advertisement boards and disconnecting power to 66 of them for violating municipal rules.
Civic authorities in Bengaluru have intensified action against illegal digital advertisements, launching a crackdown on unauthorised LED hoardings installed without municipal permission. The operation was carried out in the North Bengaluru Municipal Corporation limits, following complaints of revenue loss to the advertising wing.
Officials stated that several advertisers had installed LED advertisement boards by bypassing the approval process, effectively evading municipal oversight. This unchecked installation of digital hoardings has led to a significant drop in advertisement-related revenue for local civic bodies.

The enforcement drive was conducted across Zone 1 and Zone 2 of the Bengaluru North City Corporation. During the inspection, officials identified a total of 82 unauthorised LED advertisement boards that were operating without the required permissions from the municipal authorities.
As part of immediate action, electricity connections were disconnected to 66 illegal LED boards, rendering them non-functional. Officials said the remaining identified hoardings will also face action in the next phase of enforcement.
Authorities noted that the illegal installation of digital boards not only affects municipal revenue but also raises safety and regulatory concerns. Many of these LED hoardings were installed without adherence to civic norms and guidelines.
