23-year-old Oxford Dental College student allegedly died by suicide after repeated humiliation and academic harassment; family and classmates demand action against principal and lecturer.
A tragic incident has been reported from Chandapura in Anekal taluk, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where a 23-year-old dental college student allegedly died by suicide following continuous harassment at her college.
The deceased has been identified as Yashaswini (23), a third-year student of Oral Medicine and Radiology at Oxford Dental College, Bommanahalli. She was the only daughter of Parimala and Bhodevayya.
According to the family, Yashaswini was under severe mental stress due to the alleged behaviour of the college administration and a lecturer. Her mother has accused the institution of persistent harassment, claiming it pushed her daughter to take the extreme step.

The allegations include denial of seminar opportunities and non-allotment of radiology case work, which reportedly affected her academic progress. The situation worsened earlier this week when Yashaswini reportedly took leave on Wednesday due to eye pain.
When she returned to college the next day, she was allegedly humiliated in front of other students. The lecturer is accused of questioning her publicly about the eye drops she used, how many drops she applied, and even sarcastically asking whether she had poured the entire bottle into her eye.
The family claims this public humiliation deeply affected Yashaswini. Her mother has alleged that the continuous mental torture by the lecturer and college administration led her daughter to end her life.

Following the incident, students and classmates staged a protest outside the mortuary, demanding justice for Yashaswini. Protesters raised slogans against the Oxford Dental College administration, calling for strict action against the principal and the lecturer named in the allegations.
