From a high-profile Dubai celebration to repeated Income Tax raids, a detailed timeline shows how scrutiny intensified around businessman CJ Roy before his death.

A luxury party held in Dubai in November 2025 has now emerged as a key point in the sequence of events surrounding the death of prominent businessman Dr. CJ Roy. Sources indicate that developments following this high-profile gathering eventually led to sustained scrutiny by the Income Tax (IT) department.

CJ Roy, known for maintaining strong relationships with several business leaders, had successfully completed large projects without taking loans or availing credit. He had recently delivered a major project in Dubai on schedule and had already begun work on a second project. It was during this phase that a grand party was organised in Dubai, attended by well-known film personalities, leading Indian business figures, and foreign entrepreneurs.

Soon after this event, the IT department reportedly began tracking CJ Roy’s financial activities. In December 2025, the IT department officially entered the scene. On December 3, coordinated raids were conducted on offices linked to CJ Roy in Kochi and Bengaluru. At the time of these raids, CJ Roy was reportedly abroad.

Following the searches, CJ Roy approached the Kerala High Court, arguing that the Kochi-based IT team did not have jurisdiction to conduct raids in Bengaluru. The court initially granted a stay on further action. However, the Kochi IT team later moved the court seeking to vacate the stay. The court subsequently lifted the restriction, granting permission for further proceedings.

Armed with court approval, IT officials resumed action in December and carried out raids at CJ Roy’s Bengaluru office. During this operation, officials examined documents and sealed key records inside a locker, stating that they required further scrutiny.

Three days before CJ Roy’s death, the Kochi IT team arrived in Bengaluru again to inspect the sealed documents. Officials reportedly attempted to open the sealed locker for verification. Sources say that CJ Roy entered the room as the team prepared to access the locker. Within minutes of this development, CJ Roy allegedly died by suicide.
