Two weeks after forming GBA, DK Shivakumar chairs his first review meeting at 5 PM, focusing on pothole-free roads, white-topping progress, Ejipura flyover, and finalising the delimitation report before November.
Two weeks after the formation of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar is set to hold a high-stakes review meeting today at 5 PM. The meeting will see participation from Urban Development Department Additional Chief Secretary Tushar Girinath, Greater Bengaluru Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao, commissioners of the five municipal corporations under GBA, BSWML CEO Kareegowda, GBA special commissioners, and chief engineers.

The top agenda: submit the delimitation report by November, which will then pave the way for elections across the five city corporations that fall under GBA’s jurisdiction. DK Shivakumar is expected to issue firm directions to ensure that basic urban infrastructure is fixed before the polls, sending a clear message that accountability will be closely monitored.
One of the most crucial discussions will be on pothole-filling drives, speeding up white-topping projects, streamlining tender processes, and proper maintenance of arterial and sub-arterial roads. With Bengaluru’s road conditions facing public criticism in recent months, D K Shivakumar is likely to press for time-bound execution of road repairs and new projects.

The meeting will also review progress on major mobility projects, including the Ejipura flyover, tunnel projects, double-decker flyovers, elevated corridors, and road-widening works. These are being executed under the B-SMILE (Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd) initiative, which was created to fast-track large-scale infrastructure projects in the city. Coordination between GBA and B-SMILE is expected to be a major talking point today.
Solid waste management is another big focus, with BSWML presenting its progress report and exploring better field-level coordination. The meeting will also finalise officer appointments, discuss new land identification for municipal office buildings, and work on preparing a supplementary budget with the GBA finance special commissioner.

Another major reform likely to be discussed is the transition from B-Khata to A-Khata at the municipal level, aiming to streamline property tax and documentation processes before the elections.
With elections expected shortly after the delimitation process is completed, today’s review is being seen as a decisive step to improve citizen experience before polls and regain public trust in Bengaluru’s civic management. D K Shivakumar is expected to push for strict accountability and quicker execution of all civic works, particularly roads and mobility corridors, to ensure Bengaluru presents a better face by early next year.
