Three youths were detained and an FIR filed after an intoxicated group allegedly abused traffic police, attempted assault, and tried to run over officers during a late-night drunk-and-drive check.
A routine drunk-and-drive checking operation turned dangerous on the Devanahalli Bypass Road after a group of youths allegedly abused traffic police, attempted to assault them, and tried to ram a car into the officers before fleeing the spot.
The incident occurred during DD checking when traffic police stopped an Innova car carrying three youths. Enraged at being intercepted, the occupants allegedly hurled abuses at the policemen, questioning why their vehicle was stopped and using foul and threatening language.

According to police, the youths attempted to attack the officers and went a step further by trying to drive the car at the traffic personnel, daring them to seize the vehicle if they had the courage. In the chaos, Kishore, who was driving the Innova, accelerated and escaped from the spot, endangering the lives of the on-duty officers.
Despite the escape, Devanahalli traffic police swiftly acted and managed to detain Karthikeyan, Raghunandan and Pratap in connection with the incident. Police confirmed that the accused are residents of Singanayakanahalli and Vidyanagar.
A case has now been registered for attempting to assault police personnel, obstructing officials from discharging their duty, and attempting to run over traffic cops with a car. An FIR has been filed at the Devanahalli Police Station against Kishore, Karthikeyan, Pratap and Raghunandan. Further investigation is underway.
