  • Final GBA voters’ list on March 30
  • Assembly electoral rolls to be adopted
  • 100% verification ordered by SEC

The Karnataka State Election Commission has issued a revised schedule for preparing ward-wise voters’ lists for five GBA corporations, stressing strict verification, transparency, and rule-based execution ahead of elections.

The Karnataka State Election Commission (SEC) has announced that the final ward-wise voters’ list for the five city corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will be published on March 30. The decision is part of the Commission’s preparations for the upcoming GBA elections.

In a revised circular issued on January 22, the SEC detailed the process and timeline for finalising the electoral rolls. As per the circular, the voters’ lists for all five corporations will be prepared by adopting the existing Assembly electoral rolls. The Commission has made it clear that no fresh house-to-house enumeration will be conducted for this purpose.

To ensure accuracy, the SEC has directed Voter Registration Officers (VROs) to carry out 100% verification of the voters’ lists. Each VRO must submit a formal verification letter confirming the accuracy of the data to the State Election Commission. In addition, District Election Officers and Commissioners of the respective city corporations have been instructed to independently verify at least 10% of the ward-wise voters’ lists and submit certification to the Commission.

Meanwhile, GBA Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao addressed officials during a review meeting on Saturday and emphasised that the voter list preparation must strictly follow rules and maintain complete transparency. Referring to the revised SEC circular, he said election-related responsibilities should be handled carefully, systematically, and without lapses.

Mr. Rao directed officials to personally inspect ward boundaries to prevent confusion during elections. He also instructed Electoral Registration Officers to set aside two to three hours every day exclusively for election work, even while handling regular duties such as property tax collection.

Further, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been asked to conduct door-to-door verification during the revision process. This includes proper checks for the inclusion of new voters, correction of details, and deletion of ineligible names, with all supporting documents maintained carefully.
