  • Fourth Yellow Line train set arriving from Kolkata; first coach already in Bengaluru
  • Complete six-coach set expected by end of the month
  • Service likely to start later this month to cut wait times

Bengaluru’s Yellow Line is set to get a fourth train set this month, with the first coach already arrived from Kolkata and the rest expected by the end of August.

Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line, which currently operates with just three train sets, is set to get a much-needed capacity boost. The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has confirmed the arrival of the first coach of the fourth train set from Kolkata.

The complete train will comprise six coaches, but instead of arriving all at once, the coaches are being shipped individually. The remaining five coaches are expected to reach the city by the end of this month. Once assembled and tested, the new train set is likely to be inducted into service before the month ends.

The addition is expected to significantly reduce passenger wait times, which have stretched up to 25 minutes due to limited rolling stock. This upgrade comes as a relief for Yellow Line commuters who have faced overcrowding since its launch.

BMRCL officials say the gradual arrival process will not delay operational readiness, and the goal is to deploy the fourth train as soon as all coaches are in place and safety checks are complete.
