GBA seals commercial buildings in Mahadevapura for long-pending property tax dues

Bengaluru East Zone civic body has taken strict action against commercial properties that failed to pay property tax for over a year, sealing buildings despite repeated notices.

The Bengaluru East Zone of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has initiated strict enforcement action against commercial properties that failed to clear long-pending property tax dues. Several non-residential buildings in the Mahadevapura zone have been sealed, causing a major shock to defaulters.

The action was carried out under the guidance of East Zone GBA Commissioner D.S. Ramesh. Commercial properties that had not paid property tax for one year or more were targeted in the drive. These included banks, hotels, commercial complexes, and other non-residential buildings that had remained defaulters for several years.

Despite issuing notices and providing sufficient time to clear pending dues, several property owners failed to comply. GBA officials stated that sealing was the final step taken after repeated warnings were ignored.

The sealing operation was led by Zonal Joint Commissioner Dr. Dakshayini K. Officials locked and sealed the identified properties as part of a firm message to other tax defaulters in the zone.

GBA officials have warned that similar action will continue against any property owner who fails to clear outstanding property tax arrears.
