BDA allows trial run of the new Hebbal loop ramp, bringing major relief to commuters from Yelahanka, Airport and Jakkur areas ahead of the New Year.

Residents of north Bengaluru have received a major New Year boost with the opening of a new loop ramp at Hebbal, significantly easing traffic movement towards Mekhri Circle. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has permitted trial operations on the newly built ramp, allowing vehicles to move smoothly from Hebbal towards the city centre.

The loop ramp connecting Hebbal to Mekhri Circle has been opened for experimental traffic movement from December 20. With this, commuters heading from Yelahanka, Kempegowda International Airport, Jakkur and surrounding areas are expected to benefit the most.

Until now, motorists travelling from Hebbal towards Mekhri Circle had to spend nearly an hour stuck in congestion, especially during peak hours. With the new ramp becoming operational, the same journey can now be completed within minutes, drastically reducing travel time and fuel consumption.

Traffic planners estimate that the new Hebbal loop ramp alone could help bring down congestion in the area by nearly 25 percent, offering much-needed relief on one of Bengaluru’s busiest corridors.

This development follows the opening of another loop ramp from Nagawara to Mekhri Circle, which was commissioned in August. Together, both ramps are expected to streamline traffic flow across north and central Bengaluru.
