At the inauguration of NewsFirst Kannada’s ‘EV Ready’ Expo in Bengaluru, Additional Secretary Dr. HanIf Qureshi highlighted India’s global leadership in three-wheelers, strong exports, PLI success, and upcoming automotive mission plans.

Bengaluru: India has achieved global leadership in the manufacturing of three-wheeler vehicles and is exporting these vehicles to more than 100 countries, said Dr. Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries. He described this achievement as a matter of pride for everyone associated with the Indian automobile sector.

Dr. Qureshi was speaking at the inauguration of the grand ‘EVReady’ Expo organised by NewsFirst Kannada at Tripura Vasini, Palace Grounds, Bengaluru. The event was formally inaugurated by Union Minister for Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy, who launched the expo by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Highlighting India’s rapidly growing automobile industry, Dr. Qureshi said the country is now exporting cars to international markets, while Indian-made three-wheelers have reached over 100 nations. He said this reflects the strong global demand for vehicles manufactured in India.

Explaining the impact of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, he said the programme has grown steadily from the grassroots level. Against a production target of ₹42,000 crore, the sector has already achieved nearly ₹39,000 crore in output within just three years. He added that the government is actively providing incentives to automobile manufacturers to boost production and innovation.

Dr. Qureshi also announced that several new Automotive Mission Plans will be rolled out soon to further strengthen the sector. He said companies in the automobile and EV segments are working continuously, including on weekends, to meet growing demand. Praising Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, he said the minister remains committed to implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long-term vision for industrial growth and is always proactive in resolving challenges faced by the EV industry.

Speaking on the social impact of electric mobility, Dr. Qureshi said electric vehicles are becoming affordable for common citizens. He highlighted that many women are now driving electric three-wheelers, creating self-employment opportunities and earning stable incomes. He also informed that the NewsFirst EV Ready Expo offers visitors the chance to closely examine electric vehicles and take test drives, enabling them to make informed buying decisions.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several senior industry leaders, including Mahindra Last Mile Mobility CEO Suman Mishra, TVS Motor Company CEO K.N. Radhakrishnan, and Kinetic Green Energy CEO Sulajja Firodia Motwani, among others.
