The Bengaluru Central City Corporation collects ₹5 crore from Mantri Mall as part of its ₹30 crore outstanding tax, following a court-mandated deadline.
A major step in pending tax recovery was recorded today as Mantri Mall paid ₹5 crore to the Bengaluru Central City Corporation toward its long-standing property tax arrears. The payment follows a recent directive from the High Court, which instructed the mall administration to clear dues within a two-week period.
The corporation’s Commissioner, Rajendra Cholan, visited Chickpet on Thursday morning to supervise ongoing property tax verification activities. During this inspection, representatives of Mantri Mall handed over a cheque for ₹5 crore, marking the first instalment of the dues owed.

As per official records, Mantri Mall had accumulated ₹30 crore in unpaid property tax. Recovery efforts intensified last week when Greater Bengaluru Authority officials sealed parts of the mall premises due to non-payment. Following the enforcement action, the mall management approached the High Court seeking relief.
After reviewing the plea, the High Court granted the mall a two-week deadline to begin clearing the arrears. The ₹5 crore payment made today is part of that compliance. The mall’s administration has assured authorities that the remaining amount will be settled at the earliest.
Senior officials, including the Additional Commissioner for Development Daljit Kumar, Joint Commissioners Hemant Sharan and Ranganath, Deputy Commissioner Raju, Revenue Officer Srinivas, assistant revenue officers, and over 100 revenue staff, were present during the corporation’s verification drive.
