City Police, led by Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, conduct week-long operations across Bengaluru; more than 100 illegal immigrants identified in a single-day CCB raid.
In a major crackdown on illegal immigration, Bengaluru City Police have identified and detained more than 200 foreign nationals who were staying in the city without valid documents. The large-scale operation was conducted under the leadership of Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, with the involvement of multiple police units across the city.
The coordinated drive was carried out jointly by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) and police teams from 11 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) jurisdictions in Bengaluru. Authorities said the search operation had been ongoing for the past one week, targeting individuals suspected of staying in the city illegally.
Police teams conducted extensive searches across several areas to identify foreigners residing without valid permission or visas. During the operation, officials detected over 100 illegal immigrants in a single day during a large-scale raid conducted by the CCB on Thursday.
Overall, the week-long operation resulted in the identification of more than 200 foreign nationals who were found to be living in Bengaluru unlawfully.
According to police sources, a majority of those identified during the operation are believed to be from Bangladesh. Apart from Bangladeshi nationals, individuals from African countries and several other nations were also found staying in the city without proper legal documentation.
In some cases, police recovered local identification documents such as Aadhaar cards from the individuals, raising concerns about how such documents were obtained.
All those found residing illegally have been handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for further verification and legal action. Authorities said the FRRO will now examine their immigration status and initiate necessary proceedings.
Officials also confirmed that information about the individuals has been shared with the respective countries they belong to. Coordination is currently underway with authorities from those nations to verify identities and gather additional details.
