GBA and five new city corporations to unveil redesigned logos and eco-friendly buildings, with final approval awaited from Deputy CM DK Shivakumar

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and the five newly created city corporations are set to roll out a fresh visual identity as part of the city’s new administrative structure. Redesigned official logos and plans for four eco-friendly buildings based on blue-green sustainability are at the heart of this transition.

The change is already becoming visible across the city. Several offices have begun displaying new names and updated signage, including at the GBA headquarters. These early updates mark the shift toward a distinct identity for the new governance framework replacing the earlier municipal setup.

A large-scale design exercise was undertaken to create the new logos. Nearly 1,000 logo concepts were prepared, from which 58 designs were shortlisted. The designs were created by students of Chitrakala Parishath, who worked under the guidance of the chief architect from the Public Works Department. This initiative aimed to blend professional expertise with creative input from young designers.

Despite the fresh look, the logos will retain a strong connection to Bengaluru’s civic legacy. The iconic Kote (fort) tower, which has long been associated with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) logo, will remain the central symbol. Each of the five city corporations, however, will feature its own distinct logo, with the geographical map of the respective corporation used as the background element.

In parallel, GBA is planning four environmentally friendly buildings designed around blue-green sustainability principles. These structures are expected to reflect a focus on water conservation, green spaces, and climate-sensitive architecture, aligning with the authority’s long-term urban vision.

The final logo designs and their official adoption will take place only after receiving approval from Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Once cleared, the new branding is expected to be rolled out across offices and public-facing platforms, giving Bengaluru’s new administrative bodies a clear and unified identity.
