A long-delayed 1.5 km link road from Deepanjali Nagar Junction to the NICE cloverleaf near PES College is now in advanced stages, promising faster access to the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway and easing crippling traffic on Mysuru Road.
Bengaluru’s long-struggling commuters on the Mysuru Road corridor may finally see significant relief as Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) Ltd prepares to open a new 1.5 km link road connecting Deepanjali Nagar Junction to the NICE Road cloverleaf near PES College. The project, which aims to offer faster access to the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway, is now in its final stages after months of delay caused by land acquisition hurdles.
The four-lane link is expected to transform travel between Deepanjali Nagar, Kengeri and the Mysuru Road belt. Currently, covering the 11 km stretch from Deepanjali Nagar Junction (BHEL Circle) to Challaghatta can take 45 minutes to an hour during peak periods. Heavy congestion at major choke points, Nayandahalli, RR Nagar, Jnanabharathi and Pattenagere, routinely triggers long tailbacks.

According to project officials, all required land parcels have now been secured following a court battle, enabling rapid construction progress. The upcoming link road is expected to help motorists reach Challaghatta in about 30 minutes by directly accessing NICE Road and bypassing the most gridlocked junctions.
It also remains unclear whether a toll will be levied, as NICE is already one of Bengaluru’s most expensive toll networks. The company had previously proposed extending this link to directly connect with the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway, but the plan has seen minimal movement.
Beyond Mysuru-bound traffic, the new road is also expected to benefit commuters heading towards Banashankari and Electronics City. At present, those travelling from Deepanjali Nagar must navigate the bottleneck at Nayandahalli Junction. The link road will enable them to skip this stretch entirely by reaching the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near PES College.

The link is expected to open shortly once final works are completed, marking a major infrastructural improvement for one of Bengaluru’s busiest corridors.
