‘No one above law’, says Dr. G Parameshwar after Supreme Court cancels Darshan’s bail

Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar reiterates that the law applies equally to all, after the Supreme Court revokes bail for Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and five others in the Renukaswamy murder case.

Hours after the Supreme Court cancelled the bail of Kannada actor Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and five other accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar issued a firm statement underlining the principle of equality before the law.

Speaking to reporters, Dr G Parameshwar stressed that “no one in this country is bigger than the law” and that “the law is the same for everyone.” He urged all citizens to respect the law of the land, adding that the accused also have the right to continue their legal battle as permitted under the Constitution.

The minister confirmed that jail authorities have received instructions to strictly enforce rules and maintain vigilance regarding the custody of the accused. “The law must be followed, and we will ensure it is,” he said.

The Supreme Court earlier in the day set aside the Karnataka High Court’s order granting bail, citing serious concerns about legal propriety and fairness in the trial process. The accused are to be taken back into judicial custody immediately.

This latest development has intensified public attention on the case, which involves allegations of abduction, assault, and murder of Renukaswamy who allegedly sent obscene messages to Darshan’s friend, Pavithra Gowda.
