Blue Line Phase 2A linking Central Silk Board and KR Pura to be completed by end-2026; Metro network to expand to 175.55 km by 2027

Bengaluru’s long-awaited Outer Ring Road (ORR) Metro corridor is set to become operational by December 2026, marking a major milestone in the city’s public transport expansion. The elevated corridor, part of Blue Line Phase 2A, will connect Central Silk Board to KR Pura, covering a distance of 19.75 km along one of the city’s busiest IT and commercial stretches.

The ORR corridor is a crucial addition to Namma Metro, aimed at reducing chronic traffic congestion on the tech-heavy Outer Ring Road, which hosts thousands of daily commuters working in major IT parks and offices.

With this addition, Bengaluru Metro’s operational network, which currently stands at 96.1 km, is set for a sharp expansion. By the end of 2026, the network length will increase to 137.11 km, and by the end of 2027, it will further grow to 175.55 km, significantly improving city-wide connectivity.

Before the ORR stretch becomes operational, the next major Metro opening will be on the Pink Line. Reach-6 of the Pink Line, an elevated section connecting Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere over a length of 7.5 km, is scheduled to open by May 2026.

This will be followed by the underground section of the Pink Line, which will link Dairy Circle and Nagawara. Spanning 13.76 km, this underground corridor is targeted for completion by December 2026, adding a critical north-south underground connection through the city.

Together, the ORR Blue Line and Pink Line sections are expected to transform daily commuting in Bengaluru by offering faster, more reliable public transport options across key residential, commercial, and technology hubs.
