  • First 7.5 km stretch may open by May 2026
  • Full Kalena Agrahara-Nagawara corridor to open in phases

Trial runs have started on the Pink Line as BMRCL prepares for phased opening of the 21.25-km Kalena Agrahara-Nagawara corridor.

There is good news for Bengaluru Metro commuters as the much-awaited Pink Line has entered its final testing phase. Trial runs have officially begun on the corridor, signalling steady progress towards the launch of metro services on this key route.

The Pink Line connects Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara and spans a total length of 21.25 kilometres. The corridor is being developed in phases, with authorities planning a staggered inauguration to ensure smooth and safe operations.

In the first phase, metro services are proposed to begin on the 7.5-kilometre elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere. As part of this phase, six elevated metro stations are expected to become operational. Current estimates suggest that passenger services on this section could begin as early as May 2026, subject to the successful completion of trials and safety approvals.

The remaining stretch from Tavarekere to Nagawara will run underground. This section includes 12 underground metro stations, and operations on this part of the corridor are expected to commence by November once construction and testing are completed.

Officials stated that trial runs have been initiated to assess track alignment, signalling systems, and overall safety standards. These tests are a crucial step before the corridor is opened to the public.
