With 20 days left for New Year’s Eve, Bengaluru City Police issue detailed guidelines, tighten surveillance, and prepare extensive safety checks across Silicon City.

With the countdown to the New Year officially underway, Bengaluru is preparing for its annual wave of celebrations, especially across pubs, bars and restaurants. As party venues begin their arrangements, the city’s police force has already stepped in with an extensive set of guidelines aimed at preventing accidents, enhancing public safety and curbing drug-related offences.

This year, the police have taken a stricter approach following the recent fire tragedy in a Goa pub. Bengaluru Police have placed all units on high alert and made fire safety permissions compulsory for every party venue. Establishments without official approval from the Fire Department will not be allowed to conduct events. Officials have warned that pubs and restaurants operating without permission or offering service beyond permitted hours will face legal action.

Crowd management has also been prioritised. Pubs and bars have been instructed not to admit more people than their approved capacity. If overcrowding leads to any mishap, venue owners will be held directly responsible. CCTV surveillance has been made mandatory, and special emphasis has been placed on women’s safety during celebrations.

Alongside venue regulations, the police have mapped out a strong anti-drug strategy. To target peddlers through consumers, drug consumption tests will be conducted at police checkpoints. If suspicion arises, blood samples will be collected and sent for examination. Senior officers, including those at the ACP level, have been deployed to supervise testing and enforcement.

The city has also acted on intelligence from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, leading to the deportation of 302 illegal foreign nationals who were found staying without valid documents. Meanwhile, the Bomb Disposal Squad has begun training sessions a month in advance to increase preparedness for any emergency.

With these measures, the police aim to ensure a peaceful, incident-free New Year’s Eve in Silicon City. Their early and extensive preparations reflect an effort to safeguard Bengaluru’s growing nightlife culture while keeping public safety at the forefront.
