A dispute over promotion and resignation pressure spirals into violence inside a Bengaluru school, leading to police action and multiple FIRs.
A heated dispute between a private school principal and a teacher in Bengaluru’s Basavanagudi area spiralled into a violent confrontation, involving school staff and their spouses, leading to police action and the registration of multiple FIRs.
The incident occurred on February 14 at NGS School, located near Basavanagudi. According to police sources, the conflict began between Principal Umme Kulsum and teacher Reshma Ahmed. What started as a verbal disagreement soon escalated into a physical altercation in front of students, creating panic inside the school premises.
Reshma alleged that the school management had recently promoted her and issued an appreciation letter for her performance. This reportedly triggered tension between her and the principal, leading to repeated verbal confrontations. She further claimed that Umme Kulsum pressured her to resign from her job, and when she threatened to approach the police over this harassment, the dispute intensified.
On the day of the incident, the argument turned violent, with Reshma accusing the principal of calling outsiders to assault her. It is also alleged that long-standing hostility between the two contributed to the sudden flare-up.
As news of the clash reached their families, the situation worsened. Both women reportedly informed their husbands, who rushed to the school. This led to a physical fight between Umme Kulsum’s husband, Sohel, and Reshma’s husband, Azad, inside the school campus. The confrontation soon escalated into a full-blown brawl, involving several staff members, further disrupting the academic environment.
Following the incident, Reshma Ahmed lodged a formal complaint at the Basavanagudi Police Station. Based on her complaint, police registered an FIR against 11 individuals, including Principal Umme Kulsum, her husband Sohel, and others involved in the violence.
