A Bengaluru-based film producer allegedly abducted his actor wife by luring her with a fake shoot plan, demanding that his one-year-old daughter be handed over to him.

A shocking case has emerged from Bengaluru where a film producer has been accused of kidnapping his own wife to take custody of their child.

The accused, Harshavardhan, is the owner of Vardhan Enterprises and is associated with film production. His wife, Chaitra R, is an actor. The couple had married after being in a relationship. However, due to ongoing domestic issues, they had started living separately.

The couple has a one-year-old daughter. Following differences between the two, Chaitra moved to Bengaluru with the child. Police sources indicate that Harshavardhan was unhappy with this arrangement and wanted the child to stay with him. With this intention, he allegedly planned the kidnapping of his wife.

According to the complaint, Harshavardhan took the help of his friend Kaushik to execute the plan. Kaushik contacted Chaitra, offering her a film shoot and informed her that the shoot would take place in Mysuru. Chaitra agreed to the proposal and received an advance payment of ₹20,000.

Later, under the pretext of picking her up for the shoot, Chaitra was taken via Mysuru Road. It is alleged that she was kidnapped while travelling on NICE Road.

After abducting her, Harshavardhan allegedly called Chaitra’s mother and threatened her. He reportedly said that Chaitra would be released safely only if his daughter was handed over to him.

Following this, Chaitra’s sister filed a complaint at the Batarayanapura Police Station. Police registered a kidnapping case and initiated an investigation as per law.

After the complaint was lodged, Harshavardhan himself brought Chaitra back and handed her over to her family. Police summoned the accused for questioning and also recorded Chaitra’s statement.

During interrogation, both Harshavardhan and Chaitra stated that the issue was a domestic dispute and informed the police that they intended to resolve the matter through mutual discussion. Police have recorded statements from both parties and are continuing the legal process.
