The Yellow Line receives its sixth train set, paving the way for shorter waiting times and smoother travel for commuters.
The Yellow Line of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro has recorded another major milestone with the arrival of its sixth train set at the Hebbagodi Depot. The six-coach train, transported from Kolkata, has successfully reached the depot and is now preparing for the next phase of mandatory testing.

The addition comes as welcome news for passengers, as the Yellow Line currently operates with five trains and maintains an interval of around 15 minutes between services. Once the newly arrived train completes trials and is cleared for public use, the headway is expected to reduce to nearly 12 minutes, easing peak-hour congestion and improving overall efficiency.
Operations on the Yellow Line began on August 10 after being inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The corridor initially started with three train sets. As ridership steadily increased, the fourth and fifth sets were added in stages to handle demand. The arrival of the sixth set further strengthens the line’s capacity and marks another step in stabilising operations across this newly functioning route.

With testing scheduled to begin shortly, officials are preparing the train for inspection, calibration and safety checks before inducting it into daily service. Once deployed, commuters can expect shorter waits, smoother operations and a more comfortable travel experience along the entire Yellow Line stretch.
