Bengaluru students are facing challenges in commuting due to rising metro ticket prices and heavy traffic, prompting calls for affordable monthly passes. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) youth wing has initiated a signature collection campaign across key city colleges to push the government for discounted student metro passes.

The campaign has already reached areas near prominent educational institutions, including R.C. College, where AAP youth volunteers are engaging students and collecting signatures to support the demand. Students participating in the drive highlighted that the increase in metro fares is limiting their ability to access convenient public transport for academic purposes.

Heavy traffic congestion in Bengaluru further complicates daily commutes, causing delays and affecting students’ punctuality and learning outcomes. Many students expressed concern that long travel times and unpredictable transport are negatively impacting their educational performance.

The youth wing emphasizes that monthly passes at reduced rates will provide students with reliable, cost-effective travel, allowing them to focus on their studies without worrying about transport costs. Authorities have yet to respond to the signature campaign, but the movement has gained traction among students who rely on the metro for daily travel. AAP youth members plan to continue the drive, visiting more colleges to gather wider support for subsidized metro passes.
