The incident came to light after Krishna Kumar, a native of Bihar, lodged a complaint with the Baiyappanahalli Railway Police. According to police, Krishna Kumar had boarded a train on January 2, travelling towards Danapur in Bihar. During the journey, he came into contact with two unknown men who introduced themselves as fellow Biharis. By speaking familiarly and behaving cordially, the duo managed to gain his confidence.

At one of the railway stations en route, the two men got down and returned with tea, which they offered to Krishna Kumar. After noticing the others drink the tea, he too consumed it. Within a short time, he lost consciousness. Taking advantage of his condition, the accused allegedly fled with his gold chain, ₹4,000 in cash, and his bag. Police suspect that a sedative was mixed in the tea.
Following the complaint, Baiyappanahalli Railway Police registered a case and launched an investigation. The breakthrough came when the same suspects attempted to carry out a similar fraud on another passenger, raising suspicion and leading to police action.

The accused have been identified as Safar and Sataram, both natives of Bihar. Police arrested the duo and are currently interrogating them to determine whether they are involved in other similar crimes targeting train passengers.
