The 19.15 km Yellow Line connects RV Road to Bommasandra, linking Bengaluru’s IT hub to the city centre with 16 stations and three interchange points.
Bengaluru’s long-awaited Yellow Line Metro will become a reality today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 19.15 km corridor from RV Road to Bommasandra. The new line connects the city’s IT hub, Electronic City, to the central business district, offering relief to thousands of daily commuters.

With 16 stations along its route, the Yellow Line links three major metro corridors, Green Line at RV Road, Pink Line at Jayadeva Hospital, and Blue Line (under construction) at Silk Board. Key areas served include HSR Layout, BTM Layout, Bommanahalli, and Jayanagar, while major institutions like Jayadeva Hospital and companies such as Infosys benefit from direct connectivity.
Initially, trains will run every 20-30 minutes, with plans to increase frequency as more trains arrive. The travel time for the full stretch is estimated at just 35-40 minutes, potentially reducing traffic congestion on major roads like Hosur Road.
Inauguration day brought traffic restrictions across several corridors, including Marenahalli Main Road, Hosur Road, and parts of Electronic City, with diversions in place until the afternoon. Parking bans were also enforced on key stretches.
The fare structure starts at ₹10 and goes up to ₹60, with smart card users paying slightly less. Daily ridership is expected to begin at 25,000-30,000 passengers, potentially rising to 8 lakh per day in the future as operations scale up.
The Yellow Line’s launch marks a major milestone in Bengaluru Metro’s expansion, promising faster, safer, and more reliable travel between the IT hub and the heart of the city.
