Man uses tech to lure gullible women and exploit them

The incident has been reported from Madhya Pradesh

Police have, however, caught hold of the man

In a disturbing case from Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district, Brajesh Kushwaha, a former mill worker, used technology to commit a series of heinous crimes. Despite being illiterate, Kushwaha leveraged a voice-morphing app to pose as a female college teacher, luring tribal college students with promises of scholarships. Once trust was established, Kushwaha would direct the students to a deserted area where he, posing as a helper, would take them to a forest and sexually assault them.

Inspector General of Police Mahendra Sikarwar revealed that Kushwaha has assaulted at least seven tribal students using this method. The investigation gained traction when a survivor reported that the assailant wore gloves, a detail that ultimately led to Kushwaha, who had burnt hands from a previous job in Maharashtra. Kushwaha, along with three accomplices, was arrested on Saturday.

The Sidhi district administration has since demolished his house. A special investigation team, led by a woman deputy superintendent of police, has been formed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to investigate further and identify additional potential victims.

The police emphasized Kushwaha’s adeptness at using technology, despite his illiteracy, to manipulate and harm his victims. The cyber cell has issued an advisory warning the public about the misuse of voice-changing apps. This case highlights the need for increased awareness and vigilance against such technological abuses
