Couriered extortion threat to producer Aravind Reddy traced to actress’s close associate; police uncover detailed planning, money demand, and hiding inside actress’s house.
Bengaluru Police have cracked a high-profile extortion and threat letter case involving film producer, businessman, and advocate Aravind Reddy, owner of AVR Group. The case, which involves a demand for ₹6 to ₹7 crore, has led to the arrest of Vaishak, a close associate of a popular actress, and the issuance of a police notice to the actress for questioning.
According to police, Aravind Reddy received a threat letter in January via Blue Dart courier, demanding a huge sum of money and warning of serious consequences if the demand was not met. The letter was reportedly sent by unknown persons, raising concerns about personal safety and criminal extortion.
The threat letter was linked to a recent complaint filed by an actress against Aravind Reddy. Investigators suspect the threat was sent to pressurise and blackmail him in connection with that dispute.
The letter demanded that Reddy resolve the ongoing issue involving the actress and immediately transfer ₹6 to ₹7 crore to a specified garage location. It also warned that failure to comply would lead to severe repercussions.

Alarmed by the contents, Aravind Reddy lodged a complaint at the HAL Police Station, following which a case was registered and a special investigation team was formed.
During the probe, police traced the courier trail to a Blue Dart outlet near Banashankari. To mislead investigators, the courier was deliberately sent from a different location. Police first detained a young man working in a garage, who had physically handed over the letter for dispatch.
During interrogation, the garage worker revealed that he had couriered the letter on the instructions of his employer. This crucial lead helped police identify the main accused as Vaishak, who was later tracked and arrested.
Further investigation revealed that Vaishak was hiding inside the actress’s house while the police were searching for him. A raid was conducted, and he was arrested from the residence. Police also found that his mobile phone, a key piece of evidence, had been hidden inside the same house.

Following this, police issued a formal notice to the actress seeking her cooperation in the investigation. Authorities are now probing whether a blackmail strategy was executed using her associate, and if she had any role or prior knowledge of the extortion attempt.
Vaishak is currently in police custody and undergoing detailed interrogation. Investigators are examining call records, financial links, and digital evidence to establish the full conspiracy behind the threat letter.
Police officials confirmed that the case involves criminal intimidation, extortion, and conspiracy, and further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
