In a tragic incident in Karnataka’s Hubballi, a 20-year-old woman named Anjali Ambigera was brutally stabbed to death in her own home, allegedly by a 21-year-old neighbour, Girish Sawant. Reports suggest that Sawant had been persistently pressuring Anjali to enter a relationship with him, but she repeatedly rejected his advances. This rejection purportedly triggered the violent attack, which occurred while Anjali was asleep early in the morning.

As the community grapples with the shock of the heinous crime, Sawant remains at large, prompting a widespread search by law enforcement authorities. Speaking on the matter, Hubbali-Dharwad police chief Gopal Byakod confirmed the incident, stating that the murder took place in Veerapur Oni village. He assured that the case has been registered, and investigations are underway to uncover the motive behind the brutal attack. A dedicated team has been assembled to track down the perpetrator and bring him to justice.

This tragic event comes less than a month after another shocking murder in Hubbali, where 23-year-old Neha Hiremath was fatally stabbed by her former classmate Fayaz Khondunaik on a college campus. These incidents underscore the urgent need for greater vigilance and measures to address violence against women in the region.
