After facing threats and abusive posts on social media, actress Ramya has chosen to forgive the accused following emotional appeals from their families.
Actress Ramya has decided to forgive the youths who were arrested for posting obscene, abusive and threatening content against her on social media. The decision comes after the families of the arrested individuals personally met her and pleaded for leniency, expressing the severe difficulties they were facing due to the arrests.
According to reports, the abusive posts had surfaced a couple of months ago, allegedly made under the name of fans of actor Darshan. The content included vulgar comments, rape threats and even death threats, which caused widespread outrage. Taking the matter seriously, Ramya had lodged a written complaint with the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, providing details of the social media accounts involved. Police investigations later traced and arrested the accused, who were sent to judicial custody. Some of them remained in jail for months without bail.

Ramya emphasised that the responsibility now lies with the parents to ensure that such behaviour does not repeat, urging them to guide their children about responsible and respectful online conduct. She highlighted that owning a phone and data connection does not give anyone the right to post obscene or violent comments.
