The scholarship, set to benefit over 37,000 girls starting from the 2025–26 academic year, aims to eliminate financial barriers and promote social equality in education. The government has committed to supporting all eligible applicants even if enrolment exceeds the projected number of beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, inaugurating the programme at GKVK campus, highlighted the scholarship’s transformative potential. He noted that many parents hesitate to invest in their daughters’ higher education and described the scheme as a boon for thousands of students across the state.
Azim Premji, founder-chairman of Wipro, expressed that the scholarship aligns with his 25-year vision of accessible education for every child in India. Observing students’ growing aspirations for college education, he was motivated to support girl students’ academic journeys through this initiative.
