After PU exam controversies, fresh allegations of SSLC question papers being sold via Instagram raise serious concerns over exam security, preparatory exams, and student welfare.
Just days after controversies surrounding the PU examinations, Karnataka’s education system is once again facing embarrassment, this time during the ongoing SSLC examinations. Allegations have surfaced that SSLC question papers are being openly leaked and sold on Instagram, even before the exams begin.
According to information accessed, miscreants are allegedly leaking SSLC question papers as early as 8:15 am, before the scheduled start of the examination. Instagram accounts are reportedly offering question papers through direct messages, asking students to pay money via QR codes to receive them. Some accounts are even promoting “advance booking” of question papers.
This has triggered sharp anger among parents, students, and teachers, who say hardworking students are being cheated despite months of preparation. Many are questioning the value of conducting multiple preparatory exams, with critics asking: “If students depend on leaked preparatory papers, how will they pass the main exam?”

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has issued a clarification on the issue. Officials said:
• A formal complaint has been filed with the Cyber Police
• Out of five suspected cases, two question papers may have been leaked
• Police are actively trying to identify and trace those behind the leaks
Authorities insist strict action will be taken against those involved.
Education experts warn that such leaks can have long-term consequences. Students are allegedly begging for question paper copies online, raising fears about declining study discipline. Officials also suspect that some leaks are done only to increase social media followers.

There are growing concerns that this issue could affect overall annual results, encourage laziness among students, and weaken trust in the examination system.
With repeated exam-related lapses, questions are now being raised about the effectiveness of the Education Department’s planning and monitoring mechanisms.
