The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has officially termed the Red Fort car explosion a “heinous terror act,” linking it to a larger plot planned for December 6.

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has officially declared the recent Red Fort car explosion a terrorist act. The decision came after an emergency Cabinet meeting, where ministers strongly condemned what they described as a “heinous act by anti-national elements.”

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that the explosion was the work of organized terror networks operating against India’s national interest. The Cabinet has directed central agencies to identify and arrest the perpetrators, their associates, and all those providing logistical support.

In a solemn gesture, the Cabinet observed a two-minute silence to mourn the innocent victims who lost their lives in the explosion. “The nation stands united against such barbaric attempts to disrupt peace,” the Cabinet resolution stated.

Plot tied to Babri Masjid demolition anniversary

Investigations have revealed a chilling link between the Red Fort explosion and a larger conspiracy tied to December 6, the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition. Officials say the mastermind, Dr. Umar Nabi, a suspected terror operative, had planned a coordinated strike inspired by the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the 1993 serial blasts.

Sources indicate that Umar, who travelled to Kashmir on October 26 to meet family and associates, informed his close circle that he would remain “unreachable” for the next three months. He reportedly told them that after executing the “December 6 retaliation,” he intended to go underground.

Multiple vehicles planned for the attack

Preliminary findings suggest that Umar’s group intended to use two vehicles for the attacks, one of them a red Ford EcoSport, besides the white Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort. Following the blast, investigators launched an intensive search for the red car, eventually tracing a Ford EcoSport with registration DL 10 CK 0458 near Khandawali village in Haryana.

The car was seized by Faridabad Police, and records show it was purchased using fake identification details and a forged address, further strengthening the terror link.

CCTV reveals horrific sequence

Surveillance footage captured the exact moment of the explosion, 6:52 PM, as evening traffic choked the road near Red Fort. In the visuals, a white Hyundai i20 can be seen engulfed in flames moments after the blast, sending shockwaves through the bustling area filled with commuters and tourists.
