In a move to enhance sanitation and hygiene along national highways, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a special drive rewarding FASTag users ₹1,000 for reporting unclean toilets through the Rajmargyatra app.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced an innovative incentive-based cleanliness drive aimed at improving hygiene standards across toilets located at toll plazas on national highways. Under the new initiative, commuters can now earn ₹1,000 by reporting dirty toilets, with the reward amount being credited directly to their FASTag accounts.

The cleanliness campaign, valid until October 31, 2025, is designed to make India’s highway journeys more comfortable while promoting citizen participation in maintaining public facilities. To avail of the reward, commuters must use the Rajmargyatra mobile app, NHAI’s official highway companion app, to upload clear, geo-tagged, time-stamped photographs of unhygienic toilets at NHAI-operated toll plazas.
Users are required to provide details such as their name, mobile number, and Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) during submission. Each VRN can receive a one-time reward of ₹1,000 for the entire duration of the scheme.

However, NHAI has outlined strict terms and conditions to ensure fairness and prevent misuse. The reward applies only to toilets constructed, operated, or maintained by NHAI, excluding those at dhabas, petrol pumps, or other private premises. Furthermore, only the first valid report per toilet per day will be rewarded, and all photos must be captured through the Rajmargyatra app to ensure authenticity.
Submitted reports will undergo a two-layer verification process, starting with AI-assisted screening followed by manual review if necessary, to validate entries and maintain transparency.
This initiative is a part of NHAI’s ongoing efforts to improve road-user facilities and ensure that every commuter has access to clean and well-maintained toilets along national highway, a step that aligns with the government’s Swachh Bharat Mission objectives.
